How to Play

Registration

You need to register yourself once before you start building a team. If you are a Game Zone user on espnstar.com or have already registered for any of our fantasy games, you need not re-register. Please ensure you register with a valid email ID (as this is used for all communications with you) and residential address (as this is where all prizes will be sent to). Always remember your email ID and password, as this will be used to login and manage your teams.

Build Team:

Three teams can be created per log-in ID.

Users who activate multiple log-in IDs will be disqualified.

Format :

This Super Selector Game is divided into two parts – The India South Africa (Stage 1) and the Indian Premier League (which has Stage 2 and 3). The Leader Board will be decided on each stage. Please refer to the format at the end of the note under heading-Detailed Format for Super Selector.

Team Selections

In Super Selector, you have to select 11 players from the following categories:

1. 6 x Batsmen

2. 4 x Bowlers

3. 1 x Wicket-keeper

4. Selection of a Captain is a must

5. Each player has a rating. The higher the rating, the higher the ranking of the batsman. You have 1000 points and must select players within that rating budget. The player rating is provided by ESPN Star Sports.

6. You have to select one player as your team captain. The points he earns (not including bonus points) will be doubled, so you need to make your selection carefully.

7. You cannot select the same player in more than one category within your team. Eg. You can't have MS Dhoni as a batsman and as a wicket-keeper in your team. It has to be one or the other, but not both.

8. Substitution during the India-South Africa series will be allowed at the end of each match. For test match it will be at the end of the complete 5 days. The game will be locked at 30 Minutes before the start of the new match, for each match day. After this time your changes will be active for the following day. Substitutions for the Indian Premier League Twenty20 matches will be allowed upto one hour before the match starts. After this time your changes will be active for the following match.

Scoring Points

Each cricket player scores points according to their performance on the field for any particular match day as a batsman, bowler, fielder or wicket keeper.

Super Selector player points are scored as follows:

  • 1 point per run scored
  • 25 points per wicket taken
  • 5 points per catch held by fielder other than Wicket Keeper
  • 10 points per Wicket-Keeper dismissal (Catch or stumping)
  • 5 points per run-out (All fielders including Wicket Keepers)
  • -5 (negative five) points for players who are out for a duck (0)

Bonus points are now available for the following

  • 5 points for players who get a three-wicket haul.
  • 10 points for players who get a five-wicket haul
  • 5 points for players who get a half-century
  • 10 points for players who get a century
  • -5 (negative five) points if your captain does not play

Points for Wicket-Keeper dismissals are awarded to the player "wearing the gloves" at the time of the dismissal. Substitute players who effect catches, stumping or run-outs will score appropriate points for each dismissal.

All player categories can score points for all actions. i.e. it's not just designated batsmen who score points for runs. For example, in a Test match between India and South Africa, MS Dhoni scores 59 runs, takes 2 catches and 3 run-outs, he amasses a total of 168 points as broken-down below.

  • 59 points for 59 runs
  • 10 points for two catches
  • 15 points for three run-outs
  • 5 bonus points for a half century
  • If he was selected as your captain he would score 173 points [2x(59+10+15)+5] as bonus points are not doubled.

Official scorecards define all points awarded

Cricket players only score points for your Super Selector Team when they are actively in your Super Selector Team. Points are NOT added retrospectively. Points displayed on the Player Lists are cumulative totals for the scoring period of the game

    Substitutions

Substitutions for the India-South Africa series will be allowed only on a weekly basis. Substitutions for the Indian Premier League Twenty20 matches will be allowed upto one hour before the match starts.

    Tie-breaks

Tie-breaks will be resolved on the basis of the first player to submit their team for each game day. In all matters, the decision of the judge shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

    *APNA* Challenge leagues

APNA leagues can be created using your team in the Online Game. Playing Super Selector is more than the winning the big prizes. Set up an 'APNA League' to challenge your friends or colleagues on their cricketing knowledge to make this game more personal and exciting

So, how do you play? Well, it's very simple. Once you've registered you may create an 'APNA' League. To do this, simply type in your APNA league name, create a password and provide us with the e-mail addresses of all the people you'd like to challenge..

Every person on that list will then receive an e-mail challenging him/her to take part in your 'APNA League'. They sign up and the competition begins!

Your 'APNA' Challenge League team will not differ from your main Super Selector team, but by creating an 'APNA League' of your own you can challenge, as well as play, against your friends and colleagues. You need to register yourself once before you start building a team. If you are a Game Zone user on espnstar.com or have already registered for any of our fantasy games, you need not re-register. Please ensure you register with a valid email Id as this is used for all communications with you. Always remember your email id and password, as this will be used to login and manage your teams.
